Nuit Blanche New York, the group behind two editions of the nighttime Bring to Light festival, has reopened this two-room warehouse space in Greenpoint for a series of music and art happenings through October.
This weekend, NBNY hosts Bring Your Own Beamer (Fri 19 9pm–1am; $TBA, free with beamer and R.S.V.P. to info@nbnyprojects.com), a concept first debuted in Berlin (so you know it’s legit). Everyone is invited to attend with a projector (beamer) and playback device to create a patchwork of moving images on the 50-foot-high walls. If you don’t have such equipment on hand, just show up to enjoy the visual spectacle, music by guest DJs (A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad spun opening night) and refreshments by French joint Le Gamin.
The next night, local recording studio the End curates the space (Sat 20 8:30pm–2am; $20, advance $15), with music by Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio) with Monogold, Bird Courage, Kelli Rudick, and David Watson with the Fair Use Trio. The month is rounded out by three essential events: a back-to-back DJ set by Four Tet and Jamie xx presented by Red Bull Music Academy (Oct 26 at 11pm; $TBA); the Storefront for Art and Architecture’s annual benefit Critical Halloween (Oct 27 at 10pm; advance $102.90); and a closing Halloween shindig featuring party monster Andrew W.K. (Oct 31; time and price TBA). 67 West St between Milton and Noble Sts, Greenpoint, Brooklyn (theautumnbowl.com).
