The first official trailer for the Veronica Mars movie is out! (video)

The Kickstarter-funded flick, which picks up where the beloved cult-classic teen-detective series left off, is out March 14

It's here, Marshmallows: The first trailer for the new Veronica Mars movie dropped last night, and we could not be more excited. The film is based on the short-lived series about a whip-smart teen detective (played by Kristen Bell) who solves crimes, deals with high-school drama and is generally an awesome badass. Though the show was canceled in 2007, its devoted fandom has been clamoring for a movie ever since, and thanks to a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign (which raised more than $5 million), creator Rob Thomas was able to bring Veronica, Logan, Wallace and the rest of the Neptune gang to the big screen.

So here's what we can glean from the trailer so far: Veronica is working as a lawyer in New York City, and is coupled up with Piz (boooooo); Logan is accused of murder, and Veronica goes back to Neptune (maybe?) to help him; beloved characters—such as Wallace, Mac and, bless him, Dick Casablancas—are back; and there'll be more drama at a high-school reunion.

The movie's out March 14. We're officially counting down the days. Check out the trailer below.
