Video: Three people BASE-jumped from the top of One World Trade Center

A group of guys was arrested yesterday for jumping off the downtown skyscraper; here’s footage of their vertigo-inducing dive

Yesterday, four New York–area men turned themselves in and were arrested for burglary, reckless endangerment and jumping from a structure. That structure? That'd be One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the U.S., from which they BASE-jumped on September 30, 2013. The footage of their vertigo-inducing stunt wasn't uploaded to YouTube until today, as a search of the home of one of the arrested jumpers just produced the video.

To accomplish their dive, the Long Island guys (Marko Markovich, 27; Kyle Hartwell, 29; Andrew Rossig, 33; and James Brady, 32) sneaked into 1 WTC through a hole in the fence. Hartwell acted as a lookout from below and the remaining three walked up the 105 floors to the top, approached the edge of the 1,776-foot tower and hopped off over the NYC skyline. They parachuted down safely and landed on nearby West Street near Vesey Street, and one of them used a helmet cam to capture the footage embedded above.

If four dudes and a 16-year-old New Jersey boy have all successfully sneaked onto the property—the biggest terror target in the country—it's obvious 1 WTC needs to step up its security. In the meantime, though, at least we can enjoy the entertaining—if reckless—results of their trespassing.
