Vote for the worst smell of New York City summers

WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show wants to know which fetid stench of NYC summers you find most appalling. Fun!

Never trust an empty subway car. NEVER.

Never trust an empty subway car. NEVER.

We've already talked about how terrible the New York City subway is in the summer, but we didn't even touch on the smells you encounter in the subway. (We won't go on a tangent about how we've encountered garbage-carting trains on four separate occasions this summer, but trust us, IT'S GROSS.)

WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show, however, was brave enough to tackle the topic of stinky summer smells, not just in the subway, but throughout all of New York City. They asked listeners to nominate what they think are the worst scents and, from there, narrowed them down to four. You can go and vote on what you think is the worst—personally, we're going with a subway car with bad body odor, but we do think the list is definitely missing the stench that's belched from street grates every so often.

You can also join the conversation—or marvel at all of the grossness you encounter in NYC when it gets hot—by following the hashtag #WorstNYCStink.
