Watch Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform “Despair” atop the Empire State (video)

The NYC rockers filmed the first-ever music video on the iconic landmark.

Local power trio Yeah Yeah Yeahs has given its latest single, "Despair," the video treatment—atop the Empire State Building, no less. It's a defining moment for the indie-rock band: The clip from the ethereal Mosquito single, which premiered on Noisey this morning, is the first music video shot on the 102-story spire. Check out Karen O clad in an embroidered yellow tux as she gallivants around the building's observation deck.

“I gotta say I had a ‘the impossible is possible’ moment up there with Nick and Brian," said Karen O in a press release. "If someone would have sat us down at the Mars Bar years back and told us that we'd be performing our music on the top of the Empire State Building one day, we probably would have thought that's the stuff that dreams are made of, not us, no way.”
