Welcome to Food Envy, where we’ll highlight different dishes from Time Out Market New York that we think you’re going to love—partly because we do. This week, the popular breakfast-to-dinner pancakes at Clinton St. Baking Company steals our hearts (and stomachs).

When the latest food fad pops up—think the Cronut and tricked out milkshakes—New Yorkers will line up to check out all the hype. But for classic pancakes? And from a restaurant that’s been open since 2001 (sure, it may be one of the best pancakes in NYC)? Enter Clinton St. Baking Company.

The lines out of the door, whether for breakfast or brunch, at Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman’s Clinton St. Baking Company’s Lower East Side are well documented even after all these years. It’s one crowd favorite that keeps people coming back year-after-year: the blueberry pancakes. The iconic fluffy stacks are studded with fresh blueberries and are the perfect vehicle for dredgding in maple syrup.

While you can also order this breakfast dish for dinner to help bypass the lines, you can also check out our Time Out Market New York location of this Big Apple institution. It’s one of the best breakfast restaurants in NYC but the views of the East River are also not to be missed.

These days, New York’s pancake compettion is stacked. The creative riffs on this humble breakfast staple keep multiplying, from fancy blends of flour to over-the-top garnishes. But most days, we just want a classic pancake that’s perfectly cooked. We’ll even wait in line for it.
