At the BAL, French photographer Noémie Goudal interrogates the idea of how to construct an image, presenting four distinct series titled Observatoires, In Search of the First Line, Southern Light Stations and Study on Perspective. Goudal uses trompe l’oeil effects to play with the viewer’s perception, creating an oeuvre that is laced with a touch of ambiguity and magic, deception and reverie. The poetic and melancholic images ask the visitor to question their way of seeing, presenting a novel form of image architecture that establishes the artist as one of the finest talents at work today.
