Primarily known for his imposing steel sculptures, the American artist Richard Serra takes a detour here with a delicate series of drawings that invite the viewer on a poetic journey. The artist draws on Japanese papers in pastels and crayons in various shades of grey and black, sticking them on each other in different ways to create disjointed works that play with light and texture (hence the exhibition’s title). The velvety greys and blacks work wonderfully and reveal a subtle and refined side to Serra’s talent, making this exhibit a rare and lovely thing.
