Perhaps unsurprisingly for a man who’s given us a five-hour cinematic adaptation of ‘The Mahabharata’, Peter Brook loads his latest theatrical production with heavyweight philosophical questions: What do we really perceive? Do we all experience the world in the same way? The Paris-based British artist has always been interested in those who experience things intensely – the insane, the infirm – and ‘The Valley of Astonishment’ is no exception to the rule.
