When the17th arrondissment’s smart set want rich Med tastes they head for Un des Sens, a tapas-fusion bistro in the gentrified neighbourhood, between Place Monceau and Place Clichy. The menu may be an eclectic mix of French, Spanish and Italian influences but the starkly chic, dark wood décor gives Un des Sens’ simple cuisine a ‘sit-down’ refinement. Dishes of the day, chalked on the slate, burst with iconic Latin flavours - olive oils, vinegars, charcuterie and fresh produce – from wafer-thin proscuitto to artichoke risotto and sardine rillettes. Wash down with full-bodied Mediterranean wines, by the glass or bottle. In summer, huge windows open onto the street, so you can eat the food as it was intended, with the sun on your face and a sense of wellbeing.
