Fremantle Arts Centre’s annual Print Award Forum is an important industry opportunity to discuss contemporary printmaking and issues surrounding the medium. In 2016, the forum investigates the technical aspects of printmaking and delves into the works in this year’s Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award supported by Little Creatures Brewing.

Speakers

One of this year’s judges Dr Darren Jorgensen (WA), Discipline Chair, Art History & Senior Lecturer, School of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, UWA, will give a tour of the exhibition from the judges’ perspective and provide a critical context for the works.

Michael Kempson (NSW), Senior Lecturer, Convenor of Printmaking Studies, Director of Cicada Press, UNSW Art & Design, will unpick the techniques used in a selection of the 2016 works, and give an overview of the innovative Cicada Press program. Kempson founded Cicada Press, an educationally focused custom printing model at UNSW, to promote the broad methodological potential of printmaking practice.

The winner of the 2016 FAC Print Award will discuss their work in the exhibition and how it forms part of their broader practice.
