James Comey, the illustrious artist and author of DONKEY PUNCH, THE JOB and DISPOSABLE MESSIAH, and a contributor to LITTLE NEMO: DREAM ANOTHER DREAM will be teaching a master class in cartooning and comic creation this Spring at Locust Moon Comics. Over the course of ten two-hour classes, James will lead a workshop that will cover a broad range of skills necessary for comics including pacing, cartooning, storytelling, lettering, inking, production and book-making. Areas of inquiry will include writing and theory by Scott McCloud, Wally Wood, Theirry Groensteen, Ivan Brunetti, Will Eisner, and Sergei Eisenstein. Each student will emerge at the end of the semester with a literacy in the symbolic language of cartooning, a fully crafted comic of their own, and a deeper sense of the techniques and possibilities of the uniquely powerful medium of sequential art. The full ten-session semester is $235 per student. Come join us for a free introductory session from 2-4pm on 3/14.
