Devon Allman says
The dirty-blond hair is the same, the body posture is also the same, and there are touches in the voice that have a similar genetic connection, but Devon Allman has worked hard to establish his own musical identity, separate from his legendary dad, Gregg Allman. In fact, Devon, who was raised by his mother Shelley in Texas, took up the guitar on his own and did not meet his father until he was sixteen years old.

Devon Allman did not come on the music scene riding the coattails of a famous parent. After playing with local bands, he formed Honeytribe, a part-blues, part-rock, and part-jam band, in 1999. In 2011, his musical fate changed, touring the world as a fiery guitarist and soulful vocalist with the Royal Southern Brotherhood (RSB), a 2014 Blues Music Award winner. His own debut album, Turquoise, was released in 2013, earning him a slew of accolades ranging from USA Today calling it “well-crafted, more reflective than fiery, and soulful” to Relix magazine proclaiming him as “an elegant, soulful singer.” The following year, he released Ragged & Dirty with the Devon Allman Band.
