nueBOX says
Mitchell Keaney is an artist and musician living in Tempe, Arizona. As an artist, he is particularly interested in sound as material and the composition of both geometric and abstract shapes within a given space. He believes in the deconstruction and rearrangement of familiar materials in order to evoke an emotional dialogue between the individual and the work being exhibited through performance and installation.

To participate, you must listen. During the workshop, Mitchell Keaney will walk participants through the process of identifying sounds with a place mentally, emotionally and physically. Workshop participants will be tasked with finding and recording their own sounds and finding a place for them in a new context. He will take participants on a cycle of experimenting, listening, becoming frustrated, finding trust, and reaching a conclusion.

The only requirements to participate in this workshop is a willingness to think of sound in a new context. Participants should bring a recording device of some sort such as a phone, portable recorder, or more professional sound recording system. Participants who would like to experiment with other software or hardware should bring this with them, although this is not required.

The workshop is $10. To register visit www.nuebox.org/events. The class will meet at Phoenix Center for the Arts in the Gallery
