Phoenix Art Museum says
Calling all Educators! Join us for a fun day of art & haiku! This daylong teacher workshop is all about experiential education. Participants learn the benefits of creative risk-taking while enjoying hands-on exploration of the use of the simplified structure of haiku in stimulating critical thinking. Create dynamic stories that connect in meaningful ways to art, while learning to elicit these same experiences from your students.

This program is presented by actor and educator Caley Vickerman, Founder of the Guerilla Haiku Movement. A certified teacher in NY state, she has over 12 years of classroom experience both as a full-time classroom teacher, and as an art educator consulting and leading workshops in-and-out of schools at all grade levels. Learn more about Guerilla Haiku Movement at http://www.ghm575.com/.

This workshop will emphasize learning strategies for multiple disciplines and grade-levels. Earn 5 clock hours toward professional development. No prior art experience required.

$15 Registration fee includes resource materials, certificate of attendance, and morning refreshments. Lunch is on your own: visit Palette, the Museum Café; bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy “picnic- style” in our Sculpture Garden, or visit one of the many restaurants nearby. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Email education@phxart.org or call (602) 307.2041 for more information.

Interested in hosting Guerilla Haiku Movement at your school? Caley is available for limited classroom or school-wide workshops the week of April 11-15. Email education@phxart.org to find out more!
