The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture's 2016-2017 Community Arts Grants Program is now open for applications. The program supports the general operations of Phoenix-based arts and cultural organizations, as well as festival and arts learning projects. The deadline for applications in all categories is March 30, 2016.

The purpose of the Community Arts Grants Program is to expand the availability of arts and cultural activities throughout all sectors of the city of Phoenix; to promote cultural diversity; and to foster programmatic and organizational support for artists representing all cultural traditions. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.

The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture will host a series of orientation workshops from January 25 to February 2 around the city for applicants to learn about the funding opportunities and how to improve application proposals. Workshops will also cover the following topics:

How to apply without having nonprofit status
How to serve as a fiscal agent
How to create better partnerships with schools and other community organizations for arts learning activities
How to improve outreach and education strategies for programs
How to diversify your organization's audience, program, staff, and board
How to help your board and staff more effectively serve your organization's mission
How to increase the administrative and operating capacity of your organization
