Calliope: The Pittsburgh Folk Music Society says
Spend an evening with the beloved Grammy award-winning songwriter, folk singer, humorist and actor.

Since starting out in the late 1960s playing the folk clubs of Boston and New York, Loudon Wainwright III has built a long and illustrious career highlighted by more than two dozen album releases. His self-effacing wit and broad humor combined with deeply personal, sometimes stinging songwriting have earned him a devoted cult following. Wainwright is perhaps best known for his folk classics “Dead Skunk” and “The Man Who Couldn't Cry,” as well as for his recurring role as Captain Calvin Spalding (the “singing surgeon”) on the TV show M*A*S*H. In recent years, Wainwright’s been reaching new sets of ears, thanks in part to a plethora of soundtrack work – such as his contributions to the soundtrack of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and his collaboration with Joe Henry on the blockbuster “Knocked Up.”

Tickets: $40/$20 (with student ID)
