Kelly Strayhorn Theater says
As part of Liana Maneese’s monthlong Adopting Identity residency, three speakers share the stories and perspectives of adoptees and biracial folks of color, while addressing connections between the two. So, what does trauma and liberation look like for POCs? What is internalized superiority and how does that effect white responsibility in such relationships. This session, though heavy, is optimistic, and enlightening, and we encourage everyone—particularly white parents of POC adoptees and biracial people—to join in an evening of growth.

This is a topic often left under-explored because white folks in such relationships are seen as liberal and already understanding, and not held accountable for continual growth in these relationships. Often the voice of POCs are silenced because of a presumption of luck and difference. Join with the heart to hear and discuss strategies around building stronger multiracial families. We look forward to hearing your voice in the conversation.
