Friday, March 20th - SubMedia + Global Uprising shorts
Two or three short [10-30 minute] documentaries filmed by the activist collectives SubMedia and Global Uprisings -
1) Occupied Berkeley: The Taking of Wheeler Hall [10 minutes]
This Global Uprisings film is about how over forty students occupied a campus building in protest of rising tuition costs and teacher layoffs.
2) Street Politics 101 [30 minutes]
A SubMedia flic about the Quebec student movement and strikes that evolved into a generalized anti-capitalist revolt, including marches that sometimes included over 500,000 people.

Saturday, April 18th - Paris Is Burning [71 minutes]
"This documentary focuses on drag queens living in New York City and their "house" culture, which provides a sense of community and support for the flamboyant and often socially shunned performers. Groups from each house compete in elaborate balls that take cues from the world of fashion. Also touching on issues of racism and poverty, the film features interviews with a number of renowned drag queens, including Willi Ninja, Pepper LaBeija and Dorian Corey."

The Punk Singer is a look at the life of activist, feminist, musician, and cultural icon Kathleen Hanna, who formed the punk band Bikini Kill and pioneered the "riot grrrl" movement of the 1990s.
