Organizing Creative Action to Fight for Workers’ Rights
Saturday, January 9th 3-5:30pm
University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning Room 232

Join Fight Back Pittsburgh and USAS Local 31 for a training on organizing creative and dynamic actions to support the fight for workers’ rights on campus and around Pittsburgh. During this 2.5 hour training we’ll take a look at what makes actions effective, what goes into planning creative and dynamic actions, and how all of us can participate in actions in meaningful and empowering ways.

We’ll cover:
--Strategic uses of direct action
--How we can work together to make actions happen
--Legal considerations
--Engaging media, bystanders, and adversaries
--Action planning timelines

We’ll also share some ways that you can get involved in exciting upcoming actions to support ongoing campaigns for economic justice in Pittsburgh! Activists and organizers from all levels of experiences and all social movement backgrounds are invited to attend. If you have any questions or want more information e-mail Patrick@FightBackPittsburgh.org.

Dinner will be served after the training so please make sure to RSVP online at https://actionnetwork.org/events/shutting-things-down-to-open-things-up so we can know how many people to expect. This is the first in a series of action organizing skills trainings throughout the semester. If you have requests or ideas for future action skills trainings e-mail
Patrick@FightBackPittsburgh.org. Watch for a Mass Action Organizing Training in the coming weeks!
