Teach For America recruits, trains, and mobilizes a diverse network young leaders to teach in a classroom setting for the first two years after college graduation. Our corps members go on to work as teachers, doctors, lawyers, and policy makers, and 85% continue to serve low-income communities.

Pitt alumna, Amanda Taylor, graduated from Pitt in 2013 with a degree in Psychology and two minors in Sociology and Criminal Justice. After graduation, she taught English and AP Literature and Composition in a high-need school district in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Now, Amanda teaches high school English in the Hill District and is pursuing her Master's degree in Educational Leadership at Pitt. At this event, Amanda will discuss her time affecting social change in Tulsa and her current work in Pittsburgh.
