Not many plots begin with the death of two lead characters—but Tim Burton likes to go against the grain. His second feature film, Beetlejuice is actually all about death. The aforementioned leads are a young, dim-witted couple, Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) who, after dying, come back as ghosts, stuck haunting their country home. When a new family buys the house and decides to move in, Adam and Barbara seek help from Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to scare them out! The joy of this hilarious, sardonic comedy is in its bizarreness—and, of course, the Banana Boat Song scene.
