These constructions – made by folding, cutting and variously altering photograms – strive to introduce cinematic movement, three-dimensionality and abstract elements to life-size human figures. Each piece acts as a fractured film frame that flickers and jumps to the next, while a persistence of vision recomposes them into a whole. This host of camera-less photographic sculptures solemnly processes along the gallery walls, simultaneously emerging from and sinking back into the darkness, which itself seems to be alive.

Collaborators Anna Daedalus and Kerry Davis began working together in 2011 as part of 13 Hats, a collective of artists and writers in Portland, Oregon. Multi-disciplinary artists working primarily in photography, they utilize alternative, old and new technologies to explore such themes as environmental degradation, the atomic era, embodiment and perception.
