This final event in City Club’s Socially-Engaged Theater series highlights the work of PHAME, a nonprofit offering adults with disabilities and their families the opportunity to grow in an environment that is supportive and comfortable. Built upon the belief that art is for all and that through the arts students, artists, teachers, and the greater community can discover their own inspiration, PHAME brings passion, joy, and celebration to arts education and performance.
In addition to its educational programming in a wide range of art forms, PHAME produces staged productions, concerts, cabarets, recitals and art shows in Portland and beyond. PHAME works to integrate students into the artistic mainstream, and to provide pathways to opportunities for students who wish to pursue their performance and art beyond PHAME’s doors.

Enjoy PHAME’s version of The Wizard of Oz! After the show we welcome City Club members and those interested in membership to participate in a discussion focused on the experiences of PHAME students when working with mainstream performers. Let’s delve into what they gain, the obstacles they encounter to participation in the arts, and the ways mainstream artists and the community at large benefit from this integration.
