In honor of PICA’s 20th Anniversary, this special edition of Field Guide calls attention to recollection as an act of audienceship, offering a forum for reflection on TBA Festival history and past PICA performances spanning theatre, dance, and interdisciplinary work from 1995 to present.

Featuring Ariana Jacob (PICA alumni artist) and Mona McNeil (psychologist and longtime PICA audience member), who will share some of their most vivid PICA and TBA performance memories. Feel free to bring your own!

Together, we’ll excavate treasures from the PICA video archive to practice deep observation and detailed description; track what we notice and how; and mine our collective memory for standout moments that moved, challenged, provoked, inspired, or somehow stuck.

Throughout, we’ll consider what it means to recall and even re-watch ephemeral experiences, and discuss and rediscover artists who’ve made a mark on contemporary performance and an enduring impression on Portland.

Facilitated by PICA’s Erin Boberg Doughton, Performing Arts Program Director, and Roya Amirsoleymani, Community Engagement Manager. Wine and light refreshments provided.
