Join us for a night of music to benefit the high school student-run Portland youth music education nonprofit, Music in the Schools! The annual Battle of the Bands is the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year, and all proceeds go to supplementing Portland Public School music programs. Three high school student acts will compete, with a panel of judges from Portland's music industry deciding between them. The winning student act will receive a day of free studio time at Miracle Lake Studios!

Music in the Schools, Inc. (MITS) is an Oregon 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run primarily by Portland high school students passionate about public music education. Founded in 2007, MITS has raised over $45,000 to support Portland Public School music programs district-wide. We raise funds through a series of benefit concerts hosted at local venues, in which high school student bands open up for Portland's most acclaimed and established local bands. These events provide an invaluable experience to aspiring teen musicians. The student members of MITS are likewise given the invaluable opportunity to learn the ropes of concert promotion, event production and nonprofit management from a young age.
