The Portland Center for Public Humanities at Portland State University and the Northwest Film Center present:

Nothing Real Can Be Threatened: a screening and panel on Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade'

Tuesday, May 24, 2016
at Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 SW Park Ave.
6:00pm-8:30pm

Pop superstar Beyoncé released her latest record, Lemonade, as an hour-long visual album on April 23. Sensational and sensuous, the film combines words by Somali-British poet Warsan Shire with directorial work from Jonas Åkerlund, Kahlil Joseph, Melina Matsoukas, Dikayl Rimmasch, Mark Romanek, Todd Tourso, and Beyoncé herself. Drawing comparisons to the work of David Lynch, Terence Malick, and Julie Dash, the film is a vision, a provocation, a love letter, a meditation on femininity, relationships, race, and more.

The panel features: Intisar Abioto, Hanifah Abioto, Deena Bee, Jenna Marie Fletcher, Jamondria Harris, Melissa Lowery, Serilda Summers McGee, and Cicely Rodgers.
