Portland Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence says
World AIDS Day Walking Vigil with the Sisters
Thursday, December 1st, 8:00pm to 10:00pm in Downtown Portland

The Portland Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will once again honor World AIDS Day with a walking vigil, bringing the Veils of Shame and Remembrance to the community. The Veil of Shame bears the words and phrases that have been used against our community to bring us shame. The Sister wearing this veil will symbolically carry this weight and then the Veil will be destroyed at the end of the evening, releasing the burdens of those words. The Veil of Remembrance will carry the names of those who have passed in our community, especially those touched by HIV/AIDS. This veil is not destroyed but will be kept in the Sisters’ archives.

We will gather at Scandals Pdx (1125 SW Stark) at 8pm and then proceed to:
Stag PDX (317 NW Broadway)
Embers Portland (110 NW Broadway)
Silverado (gay bar) (318 SW 3rd Ave)
and end at Slaughters Portland (219 NW Davis) with the destruction of the Veil of Shame.
Walk with us, or meet us along the way.

This event takes place regardless of weather.
