City Council: If We Broke The Rules, What Would Happen?

Black Lives Matter Sacramento says
BLACK LIVES MATTER SACRAMENTO AND L.E.A.D.

So not too long ago, we fought for a stronger commission to serve as community oversight of the Sacramento Police Dept.

Out of everything we fought for, all we got was a weak city ordinance.

The ordinance did 2 decent things
-requires no police on the commission
-requires 30 days to get the video out with police shootings

On Feb 10th there was a police shooting and we are still waiting on the SacPD video.

THE VERY FIRST TIME SACPD HAD TO FOLLOW THEIR RULES, AND RELEASE A VIDEO, THEY FAILED MISERABLY AND ASKED FOR A DAMN EXTENSION FOR 60 DAYS!

Our city council's response to that request was full of great words and a "denial" of the extension...

BUT THEN TOLD SACPD THE VIDEO CAN BE RELEASED LATE, AND THAT THERE IS NO TIME FRAME FOR THE DEPT TO MEET.

DOESN'T THAT SOUND LIKE AN EXTENSION?

Not only that, our new mayor disgustingly allowed his emotions to supercede OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN THAT PUBLIC HOUSE!

Watch here as our mayor tells us what words we are literally not allowed to use because they offend him. What we can and cannot say about the police's actions when they gun us down. And how their feelings trump the feelings of the loved ones who still mourn these folks lives.

We need to fill that space y'all!
