Folded, Wrapped And Bound: Sculptural Assemblage With Matthew Mahoney says
Origami and piƱata building are centuries old practices, whose use and creation have changed significantly in recent decades. This workshop will explore similarities between the techniques of origami, and sculpting with cardboard, as well as the practical building techniques of both used for assemblage in contemporary sculpture. This workshop will focus on the potential of any and all material at hand to create sculpture. Whether abstract or figurative, the potential for form within common objects and materials becomes infinite in the eyes of a dedicated maker. Each attendee will make an original sculpture of their own to take home during this session.
