Concetta Antico, Tetrachromat Australian Muse says
Tetrachromat Artist extraordinaire, Concetta Antico, is excited to announce her next incredible art showcase on Saturday, Mar. 28, “Gum Nuts, Bunyips & Billabongs…The Australian Collection.” This upcoming show will unveil works inspired by her homeland of Australia. This show will take place at her gallery, Concetta Antico Fine Art Gallery (1920 Fort Stockton Drive, Suite A) from 6-9 p.m. Admission is free.

The Sydney-native came to San Diego over twenty years ago with hope in her heart to find a new life in the United States, and San Diego was probably as close as she was going to get to replicating the idyllic shores of the Sydney Harbor or Byron Bay. These new works give life to the beautiful scenery and sights of her home, and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to share them with her collectors and potential new collectors.

Antico’s work is not just collectable because of its pure beauty and essence, but also because of her special gift of Tetrachromacy. It was discovered in late 2012 that Antico possessed the building blocks for a form of supervision once thought to only occur in nature. It’s estimated that Antico can see 100x more color than the average human, due to her extra color receptors in her eyes. This Tetrachromacy discovery take her art beyond known Impressionism and technique, as she is able to process color at lightning speed, creating her works alla prima and en plein air in mere hours. It’s electrifying to see, and the final result is pure magic on canvas. Her paintings reflect the beauty of the world that most of us will never get to experience, but luckily for us…her work provides a vivid window.
