In Michael Francis’ first season as Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra’s music director, his course is clear. For the just-announced 2015 season, he’s going back to Mozart.

The June 2015 Mainly Mozart Festival will be a celebration of the past 27 years. Through a brilliantly curated selection of both favorites and works that have never been performed during the Festival, the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra will both pay homage to what David Atherton achieved and give a hint to future programming in the next era, which will launch in September 2015.

“Mozart seems to represent all aspects of humanity so effortlessly,” said Michael Francis. “You have his great sense of humor, the joy and love; but you also have that darkness, that almost depression and all the aspects associated with that.

“But equally, the thing that is fascinating about him is that he has a little glimpse of the divine in his music.”
