For the past 44 years, Tower of Power has been creating their own kind of soul music. Since 1968, Tower of Power has delivered their unique brand of music to their fans, appearing before sold out crowds as they tour the world each year. Tower’s sound can be hard to categorize, but the band's leader and founding member, Emilio Castillo, has labeled their sound as "Urban Soul Music." Tower's rhythm section lays down a groove like no other band. The band’s horn driven sound is unique, and the way they approach everything, from writing and arranging to mixing and performing, is totally their own. Combine all of that with an outstanding lead vocalist and you have one of the most dynamic groups of musicians to ever hit the stage. This is TOP’s 21st consecutive summer under the stars at Humphreys. Opening the show will be Average White Band, Scottish soul brothers famous for "Pickin' Up The Pieces" and "Cut The Cake" and widely regarded as one of the best soul and funk bands in the history of music. The band's consistently accomplished song-writing skills stretched across several gold selling albums and multi-Grammy nominations. The current lineup of the band, with noted US musicians alongside founding members Alan Gorrie and Onnie McIntyre, continues to delight audiences and critics alike in its wide - ranging touring. The musical energy and trademark sound are remarkably true to the original, and with constant revisitations and re-workings of AWB's, and others' classics in the mix, it is no surprise that the Average White Band is now a multi - generational attraction, and a perennial fixture with so many of the top music venues.
