Join us for a free lecture-performance by classical pianist and author, Roland Colton. Register by visiting www.apsandiego.org.

Roland Colton recently released a historical novel set in 19th century London called "Forever Gentleman" about a young classical pianist and architect who navigates his way through the wealth and poverty that characterized Victorian London. Roland developed a piano program centered around his experience writing the book, which features classical music from the 19th century. The program, entitled "Writing Music Into Fiction: A Celebration of 19th Century Music and Literature," covers how Roland came to write the book, how he wove the different aspects of classical music into the story, and what he learned about the musical compositions, artists, and piano builders of 19th century.

In addition to speaking about music and fiction, Roland will perform the music by such celebrated European composers of the 19th century including: 1. Chopin's Quatrieme Ballade; 2. Liszt Concert Etude, Un Sospiro; 3. Chopin Etude, Opus 25, No. 1;4. Bizet, Nocturne No. 1 in F Major.

This event is free to attend, and doors open at 1:30pm. Roland will take questions from the audience at the conclusion of the lecture-performance, and will have his book for sale. You can also learn more by visiting Roland Colton's website: http://rolandcolton.com
