A concert celebrating Chronicles of Solitude: Masterworks by Vilhelm Hammershøi from SMK—The National Gallery of Denmark, currently on view at the Frye.

Noted American mezzo-soprano Deanne Meek, performs songs chosen to complement the themes touched upon in Vilhelm Hammershøi’s oeuvre. Ms. Meek will be accompanied on the piano by John Keene.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Deanne Meek has interpreted most of the major roles in the lyric mezzo-soprano solo repertoire to critical acclaim. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she sings in many of the major opera houses of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York; English National Opera, London; Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires; La Monnaie, Brussels; Teatro Real, Madrid; Le Chatelet, Paris; and Teatro alla Scala, Milan. Equally at home on the opera, concert, and recital stage, Ms. Meek has recorded on the BBC, Virgin, PS Classics, and Telarc labels.

John Keene is the Chorus Master at Seattle Opera where he served as Assistant Conductor for Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen in summer 2013.
