Seattle Sounders FC says
Calling all Sounders FC fans! Join us in the early afternoon until the match in The NINETY as we host our first ever blood and bone marrow drive.

Each year, Bloodworks Northwest helps over 55,000 patients receive life-saving blood transfusions in the Pacific Northwest. Those patients would be almost enough to fill the seats at CenturyLink Field! Blood donations are used daily by patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, organ transplants, and trauma injuries and burns. A patient with a childhood cancer typically receives at least 2 blood products during treatment. Your blood donation is critical in helping our community maintain a stable supply. Donors who register to donate blood at the official Seattle Sounders FC blood drive event will receive one (1) ticket to see Sounders FC play after the event that evening at CenturyLink Field on 9/28/16 at 7:30 PM versus the Chicago Fire, courtesy of Bloodworks Northwest. Tickets are non-transferrable and are not redeemable for cash and will not be substituted for any other match. Spacing is limited and appointments are required. To make an appointment please visit https://schedule.bloodworksnw.org/DonorPortal/GroupLanding.aspx?s=2268 or call 800-398-7888. Be The Match will also be on site to encourage Sounders FC fans to join the donor registry! Their mission is to provide a matching donor for every patient in need and eliminate barriers to transplant, and we are about to accomplish that with your help. Be The Match, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, connects patients with blood diseases to their life-saving marrow or stem cell transplant. Anyone between the ages of 18-44 who is in good health and committed to donating to a patient in need is encouraged to join the donor registry. Joining is simple and takes less than 10 minutes – all you need to do is fill out a form and swab your cheek. Once you join, you stay on the registry until you are 61 and are called to donate only if you are the best match for a patient. For the patients they serve, transplant is their best or only chance for survival and most people don’t realize they have the power to be that patient’s cure.
