Town Hall Seattle says
The New Yorker’s article on “The Really Big One” sparked a national dialogue about the potential for a huge disaster in the Puget Sound and the regional response was overwhelming. Experts warned of necessary preparedness measures and others pointed to Seattle Times journalist Sandi Doughton’s 2013 book Full-Rip 9.0, which warned of this catastrophe. Now, Doughton and others will appear in conversation to discuss the regional risks of earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, and other disasters–and what communication strategies can be put in place to prepare. Panelists include: David Montgomery, UW geomorphology professor; Eric Rasmussen, expert in global disaster vulnerability; Robert Bishop, president and founder of the Geneva-based ICES; and moderators Gifford Pinchot and Rachel Bagby.
