Eighteen years after affirmative action was overturned in Washington State, unemployment has surged and wages and educational opportunities have plunged for African Americans and other people of color. Now is the time to strategize how to build a movement to reinstate and expand affirmative action.

•Kevin Allen, Vice President, Puget Sound Chapter of Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. Member of Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) Local 843 and the WFSE Statewide Executive Board.

•Dr. Norwood Brooks, longtime political activist who is currently heading up the Seattle/King County NAACP's campaign to reinstate affirmative action. Helped establish this state's first programs for minority businesses and hiring.

•Val Carlson, civil rights and civil liberties lawyer. Former Affirmative Action Officer for the Bellevue School District and member of National Lawyers Guild. Was lead attorney on Clara Fraser's discrimination case vs. Seattle City Light.

•Nikkita Oliver, lawyer, community organizer, poet. Writer in Residence at Seattle Arts & Lectures: Writers in the Schools Program and Mentor Artist/Case Manager at 4Culture: Creative Justice.
