Town Hall Seattle says
Tuberculosis infects roughly one-third of the world’s population and is second only to HIV/AIDS as the “greatest killer worldwide.” In recognition of World TB Day, this educational forum (moderated by KCTS’s Enrique Cerna) will explore the local impacts of the disease, the burden of TB in Washington state, patient challenges, and discuss treatment solutions. The event also features the TB Voices Project, which illustrates the perspectives of 28 Puget Sound-area residents impacted by TB. Panelists include Scott Lindquist, State Communicable Disease Epidemiologist with the Washington State Department of Health; Alexandra Molnar, Physician at Harborview Medical Center; Tanya Parish, Vice President of Drug Discovery with the Infectious Disease Research Institute; David Sherman, Professor with Seattle BioMed; and Faxti Cabbi, a Community Health Worker who’ll share her personal experience of caring for a TB patient in Kenya.
