What are the differences between snowboarding and other forms of backcountry travel regarding terrain, snowpack, and avalanches? If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions—or any others about backcountry riding—come join the Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) along with local snowboard experts for an evening of discussion and group learning as we explore these challenges snowboarders frequently face in the backcountry. The first half of the evening will be a lecture focused on snowboard–targeted avalanche education and the second half will be a casual workshop designed to apply our new skills followed by a Q&A with NWAC professionals along with experienced riders. Please bring any and all questions about splitboarding in avalanche terrain; how to apply avalanche forecasts; and questions about avalanches themselves. This class will be taught by NWAC avalanche experts and educators along with knowledgeable splitboarders. Join us at Feierbend German Pub after the workshop for drinks and socializing. Each admission includes a beer ticket.
