This month, we will host Heather Bolint! Heather is the director of the Seattle grassroots branch of The Humane League (THL), which works on broiler chicken campaigns, tabling, leafletting and more. She has worked at the Humane Society of the United States in the past.

THL has been a top charity of Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) for five years in a row, and has received $3 million in grants from the Open Philanthropy Project in 2016 alone, of which $2 million was for cage-free campaigns, which Open Phil views as extremely cost-effective. The focus has since switched to broiler chicken campaigns since nearly every company of interest has pledged to go cage free.

Vegan snacks will be provided!

A note on the location: Optimism is a brewery and sells beer, but they allow minors in the space, and also allow outside food, since they don't sell any food themselves.

If you want to get some practical experience with the sort of work that THL does, you may want to come to THL's potluck work party, which is happening two days before our meetup: https://www.facebook.com/events/817589555054942/
