Seattle Arts & Lectures says
"Pablo Neruda is... the greatest poet of the twentieth century, in any language."—Gabriel García Márquez

This National Poetry Month event celebrates the literary discovery of the decade: Pablo Neruda's lost poems. Copper Canyon Press will be the exclusive U.S. publisher of an extraordinary cache of 20 newly discovered Neruda poems. The collection, titled, Then Come Back: The Lost Neruda, will be translated by the poet and novelist Forrest Gander, and will include full color reproductions of the handwritten poems. This launch will feature bilingual readings and conversations with a panel of writers, translators (including Gander), and luminaries who will give light to the new publication by this late, great Chilean poet.

The poems were found by archivists last June, in boxes kept at the Pablo Neruda foundation in Santiago, Chile. They were published by Neruda’s Spanish publisher, Seix Barral, but have not yet been released in English. The earliest poem in the collection dates to 1956, and several are love poems, a form Neruda was famous for.

Co-presented with Copper Canyon Press.
