In this class, multidisciplinary artist and public art manager Kristen Ramirez covers the essentials any artist needs to apply for grants, residencies, calls for submissions, and other opportunities. In-class exercises and discussion will help you better understand the application process, prepare application materials, and identify the right opportunities for your work. At the end of the class, you'll have an artist statement, resume, biography, and other parts of a successful grant application and portfolio, and be ready to apply for support for your work.

Instructor Bio:
Kristen Ramirez is a studio and public artist who enjoys investigating our sense of place. Ramirez works managing public art projects for the City of Seattle's Office of Arts & Culture and also serves as artist-in-residence to Seattle's Department of Transportation. Originally from San Francisco, Ramirez came to Seattle to earn her MFA from the University of Washington. She also holds a MA in Education from San Francisco State University and a BA from UC Santa Cruz. Prior to her work at the City of Seattle, she has worked as an educator, an artist, and an arts administrator at Pratt Fine Arts Center, Edmonds Community College, and Cornish College of the Arts. Ramirez loves community engaged projects and regularly teaches with Path with Art, an arts organization that offers art classes to adults in recovery.
