STG Presents Seattle International Dance Festival at The Moore Theatre on Saturday, June 27, 2015.


In partnership with Seattle Theater Group, SIDF presents the festival’s closing weekend performances at The Moore Theatre. Special guests include Seattle’s Spectrum Dance Theater and Mexico’s Ciudad Interior Contemporary Dance Company. As part of Khambatta Dance’s 25th Anniversary celebration, Spectrum Dance Theater will perform choreographer Cyrus Khambatta’s “Truth and Betrayal,” a piece described by the Seattle Times as having “...increasingly interdependent leaps, lifts, drops and perilous catches...with an abruptness that’s both shock¬ing and exhilarating.” Spectrum also previews a new work by choreographer Donald Byrd, danced to the composition of eminent American composer Walter Piston, “Duo” for viola and cello. Mexico’s Ciudad Interior Contemporary Dance Company presents “Kinetica,” exploring physical objects and the stories they tell. In 2011, this astounding company, which has won numerous Mexican national awards, impressed festival audiences and Seattle Times critic Michael Upchurch with “ ... a dizzying ricochet machine that kept changing speed and direction...

Travel the world through dance –and never leave your seat. The Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) is a 16-day contemporary dance feast with an outdoor Art on the Fly street fair (6/13/15) as well as dozens of indoor performances by more than 200 local, national and international artists. This 10th edition of the festival is produced by Khambatta Dance and hosts stellar dance troupes from Mexico, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Vancouver and the East and West Coasts of the U.S.
