Photographic Center Northwest says
Join Julia Dolan, PhD, Minor White Curator of Photography at the Portland Art Museum, for a discussion of meaning in photography. Using examples from PCNW's Punctum and SAM's upcoming New Topographics exhibition, Dr. Dolan will explore Roland Barthes' concept of the punctum—or poignant detail—of a photograph, and question the possibility of locating puctum in the seemingly objective photographs made by New Topographics artists.

A reception for Punctum: 20th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition will follow at PCNW. Presented in association with Seattle Art Museum.

Lecture Tickets: $10 general public; $5 PCNW and SAM members; Students free with RSVP and student ID.
No tickets required for reception.
