"I love me some Rob and Melissa kirtan! They create an incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere where people can let their voices shine. Their harmonies together along with Rob's amazing guitar playing soothe the soul and bring much joy." - MJ Daniels, 8 Limbs Yoga Teacher

Kirtan is a form of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion. Kirtan means devotional chanting, usually the singing of ancient Sanskrit chants and mantras in a group setting. Here is a wonderful description of kirtan written by Krishna Das, one of the most prominent kirtan singers in the US.

"The words of these chants are called the divine names and they come from a place that's deeper than our hearts and our thoughts, deeper than the mind. And so as we sing them they turn us towards ourselves, into ourselves. They bring us in, and as we offer ourselves into the experience, the experience changes us. These chants have no meaning other than the experience that we have by doing them. They come from the Hindu tradition, but it's not about being a Hindu, or believing anything in advance. It's just about doing it, and experiencing. Nothing to join, you just sit down and sing."

Rob and Melissa Lundsgaard are an inspirational duo teaching yoga and leading kirtan (devotional chanting) through the tradition of Bhakti Yoga or Yoga of the Heart. Melissa’s sweet and soulful voice is the perfect complement to Rob’s earthy, singer-songwriter vocals. Their music resonates with a wide diversity of audiences, from the yoga studio to the nightclub, the spiritual to the secular, the young to the old, crossing cultural bridges by adding a modern, tangible sensibility to the ancient Sanskrit mantras.
