Tractor Tavern Presents: Soultastic- Con Brio + Whitney Mongé + Guests Doors @ 7PM | Show 8 PM 21+ | $10 buy tickets here: http://goo.gl/3J2HkI Con Brio: Known for their fiery live shows, Con Brio is a living, evolving testament to the power of soul. Fronted by 21-year-old phenom Ziek McCarter — a charismatic, undeniably gifted showman whose stage presence calls to mind the magnetism of a young Michael Jackson or James Brown — the band’s sound traces a clear lineage from the dirty funk, blues, and psychedelic legacy of Bay Area legends like Sly and the Family Stone, with a nod toward ‘90s neo-soul trailblazers like D’Angelo, but with an eye to the future: A drive for experimentation, for pushing their high technical ability higher, for reaching beyond the familiar — approaching a deep R&B groove, a hard-rock guitar solo, or the warm peal of a Hammond organ with an ambitious, progressive sensibility. All of which is to say: They throw one hell of a dance party. www.thebandconbrio.com Whitney Mongé: Originally from Spokane, WA, singer-songwriter, Whitney Mongé moved to the Seattle area in 2008 to pursue her career in music. She began her journey busking in the Pike Place Market, which has since led to several opportunities such as appearances on ESPN’s Mayne Event, CW11’s Band In Seattle, an artist spotlight on PBS station KTCS 9 and currently, a local commercial on KOMO 4 for the $9 million Pike Place Market expansion fundraiser project. Along with TV opportunities, Mongé has performed live on various radio shows such as KJR FM, KSER FM, & KYRS FM. Whitney brushed up on her public speaking skills for Ignite Seattle in 2013 at Town Hall, where she did a 5 minute Ted Talk-esque speech about how to busk in the Pike Place Market. The segment aired on KUOW NPR’s Speaker Forum program. www.whitneymonge.com
