Seattle Arts & Lectures says
Roxane Gay is an author and cultural critic whose work has garnered international acclaim for its reflective, no-holds-barred exploration of feminism and social criticism. With a deft eye on modern culture, she critiques its ebb and flow with both wit and ferocity.

Gay's collection of essays, Bad Feminist: Essays (2014), explores modern feminism; it was named by NPR as one of the best books of the year, and Salon declared it “trailblazing.” Her debut novel, An Untamed State (2014), was long listed for the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize. Her forthcoming book, Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body, is an examination of body image. Marvel announced on Friday that the series, World of Wakanda, which is to premiere in November will be written by Gay and the poet Yona Harvey.
