If you’re ever near Cheongdam’s Dosan Park, you might want to make a quick visit to Gallery 0914. With the 130 Year Friendship Korea-France event ending, Mari Kim’s solo exhibition La Vie Parisienne will open there until February 5th, 2017.
The 13 new graphic art pieces which have been specially created for this exhibition portray historic French characters—in the artist’s iconic ‘EYEDOLL’ method, Coco Chanel, Jon of Arc, Edith Piaf and Marie Antoinette among others seem quirky and rather approachable. Kim mentioned that such style evolved from her love of comics, relflected in the big glossy eyes in her caricatures.
After a quick tour of the gallery, you might want to visit the second basement floor as well. It’s the 0914 (a Korean luxury leather company)'s leather studio, where around 30% of bags are produced.
