Picnicking at the Han River has become an annual event, even for tourists. It's great to relax in the cool breezes of the river, but why not make it extra special this year? For 38 days, a festival will take place along the Han River in July and August, when Seouis at its hottest. At the Hangang Summer Festival you can do everything from watch amidnight movie in the rain under the bridge with strangers or enjoy a concert by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra with the glittering lights of the city in the background. If you are fond of doing something more active, you can go splash in the waters of the Han River as well. You can make a paper boat with your friends and join a race (a life jacket is a must) or try out a giant ride made of tubes. The festival provides you with the opportunity to enjoy water sports, like kayaking, wind surfing and blob jumping, for which you previously had to go all the way to Gapyeong for. They will also have outdoor camping sites ready for you, so if you don't want to go home after a day of fun, you can choose to spend your summer night in a tent. This festival will allow you to enjoy your vacation in the middle of Seoul to the fullest.
